Wooden Surfboards

Here is a video I made where Ferg shows us his first few surfs on his new Tonn Surfboard.

I had a few surfs on this board & it goes great, it feels very similar to a regular PU board but its made of wood, which is mad!

Board dimensions - 5"9 x 19"3/8 x 2"3/8

Board weight - 2.9 kg !!!

Board design - Magic Bean by Luke Underwood Creations

The Boards are made in Ireland by Jean Philippe Hetier owner of Tonn Surfboards

Ireland's Deep Atlantic

Ireland's Deep Atlantic is a 2 part series for RTÉ 1 by Film maker Ken O’Sullivan , starting Sunday 22nd of April at 9.30pm.

It is an amazing project, I was lucky to be involved for the last 2 years supplying the Drone footage & shooting some interviews & a few underwater bits.

The footage that Ken filmed underwater in the deep atlantic is unbelievable, its the most amazing underwater footage to come out of Ireland in my option.

Flying a drone off the boat was a bit challenging at times, but great craic.

I recommend giving it a watch it on the RTÉ player or live on tv if you can, the underwater footage is spectacular .

Ireland's Deep Atlantic - (RTÉ series)

A special screening of  Ken O'Sullivans, new RTÉ series ‘Ireland's Deep Atlantic’ is being shown at Millennium Theatre Limerick Institute of Technology on  Sun 11 March 2018 18:30 – 20:30 GMT

The series explores the beauty of Ireland's Atlantic waters, for the first time in any TV production. I was lucky to be part of the filming team involved with this series over the last 2 years and it was a privilege to work along side Ken & witness the lengths he went to capture this amazing footage . The screening will be followed by a question and answer session with some of programme's key personnel.
Presented by Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) in association with Sea Fever Productions and the Irish Underwater Council (CFT) .

The Doolin Folk Festival 2017

We had great fun filming at the fifth annual Doolin Folk Festival takes place from the 16th-18th June. I had a great team this year helping me film the 3 days, it was an all mayo team this year with Conal, Tommy & Dara on the cameras. Below are the three live acts we filmed as well as a short summary video, hopefully it gives you a taste of the festival!

Halal Daddy

Here's a few pics from Halal Daddy Irish premier in Sligo. Directed by Conor McDermottroe .

The film is shot on location in Sligo. I was delighted to contribute some surf footage to the film. Described as a “cultural clash comedy”, the film stars Colm Meaney and Art Malik, Deirdre O’Kane and Nikesh Patel. It goes on general release in Irish cinemas on Friday , it has a great story & I highly recommend it

Between Land and Sea

I was lucky to be involved in the making of an Irish documentary surf film - Between Land and Sea, Directed by Ross Whitaker.

 Ferg on a fun wave

Ferg on a fun wave

It is a Surf documentary that spends a year in the lives of the Big Wave community of West Clare, Ireland. It follows a host of locals including- Tom Doige-Harrison, Ollie O’Flaherty, Fergal Smith, John McCarthy, Dexter Mccullough, Pat Conway, Ben Bennett & a lot more.

Between Land and Sea – year in the life of an Irish surf town at the mercy of the Atlantic Ocean. This observational feature – at times intimate, at times epic – embeds itself in the Big Wave surf community to present a thoroughly engaging and visually stunning portrait of the ever-changing life at land’s end.

Against the backdrop of Ireland’s stunning west coast, this film digs deep into the day to day lives of the surf community, taking the audience beyond the bluster of the typical adrenaline fueled film to create a very real portrait of those who choose the surf lifestyle.

Directed by Ross Whitaker (SavioursUnbreakable) and featuring some of the biggest waves and best surfers in Ireland – as well as a thrilling cameo by Hawaiian legend Shane Dorian –Between Land and Sea succeeds in being exhilarating while giving a moving, humourous and thought-provoking account of the ocean-going natives of West Clare.
